On the last week of January, our 7th grade scholars took part in “Bash the Trash.”  Members of the non-profit program educated our students about science, sound, and sustainability. With a little help from “Bash the Trash” volunteers and our staff, our scholars transformed recycled and reused materials such as tennis rackets, old pipes, and ice coolers into guitars, amplifiers, drums, and xylophones. The science, social studies, music, and art departments all collaborated to make this a team effort. Our scholars performed in class on their homemade instruments while presenting folk tales and songs about slavery.

Special thanks to: Ms. Luceno, Ms. Vinson, Ms. Watkins, and Ms. Bauer and of course all of the volunteers from “Bash the Trash!”  http://www.bashthetrash.com/

Congratulations to our scholars for creating such amazing and innovative projects! Way to go!
